Dr. Zong is a senior physician-scientist for infectious diseases and is in charge of the infection control program in West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China. He was the International Ambassador of SHEA in 2011 and is an awardee of the Newton Advanced Fellowship, Royal Society, UK. His expertise is in the management of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO) infections in critically ill or immunocompromised patients. His main research interests are the epidemiology and mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in the Enterobacteriaceae and Acinetobacter spp. and the prevention and control of MDRO. He has authored >80 peer-reviewed papers in English in Science Citation Index-indexed journals.
